Every month, 1 member in the northeast district is picked and receives the member of the month award. Click on the button below to find out members from our own chapter that have received this award!

FFA members in grades 7-9 grade are eligible to participate in the FFA Creed Speaking Event. This member must recite the Creed from memory. The Iowa FFA Association will have three questions to ask the participant about the Creed that will be read by the judges. The judge will ask each participant the same question without explanation to see the participants knowledge about the Creed.

The rules of Job Interviews is that the participant is responsible for writing a cover letter and a resume. The participant will pick an agriculture related job and apply for that position. You will be responsible for filling out an application used in the agriculture industry before Sub-Districts, Districts, and State Events.

The rules of Ag Sales are that the participant will try to sell an agricultural product to one of the judges. The participant will explain to the judges the situation, circumstances and location. The presentation should last up to 6-12 minutes. If the presentation lasts longer than 12 minutes you will have points deducted.

Two participants in their freshman year can participate in the state FFA Greenhand Quiz. There will be 100 questions on the quiz, including multiple choice, true or false, and fill in the blank.The questions will be taken from the current editions of the Official FFA Manual, FFA Student Handbook, and the FFA website.

One out of four topics will be chosen by the participant ahead of time in a participation room with one participant added every ten minutes as the event progresses. The topics include Agriscience and Technology, Agrimarketing and International Agriculture, Food and Fiber Systems, and Urban Agriculture. Participants may bring up to five materials, one including a notebook and another including a folder that can only contain 100 or less items, only when approved by an event official. The speech will be only 4-6 minutes long.

Chapters that have a website are able to participate in this contest, they are to meet all the requirements on the rubric, while also having the website easy to maneuver around. One member will present to 3 judges at the district level in 8 minutes, with 2 minutes for questions. The top 2 contestants will move onto the state level.

During this event, participants draw from 18 agricultural topics then select three of interest. From those three, a student selects the topic of their speech and has 30 minutes to prepare using five resources. Participants then present a four to six-minute speech on their topic to a panel of judges.
